What does the Sources box at the end of an Insights article show?
For each source: the organisation that published the figures, the datasets used, links to the exact pages the figures were read from, and the publisher’s terms of use, so you can check every number at its source.
- The name of the organisation that published the figures, linked to its website.
- The datasets the article used from that organisation.
- Figures read from: links to the exact pages or files the figures were taken from, so you can open them and compare.
- The publisher’s wording for crediting it, where it asks for one, and a link to its terms of use.
The box is written from the article’s record of its sources, not from its text, and an article whose sources are not complete is not shown at all, so the box is never missing and never different from what the article used.
If an article also uses figures from Housing Market Group’s own platforms, the box says so and states that they are aggregated statistics only, with no individual listings or people. Under the box the page states that the analysis is original: the figures are the publishers’ own and the text is ours.
