Is there a free sandbox to try the API?
Yes. Create a free sandbox key in the console and make the same requests on synthetic data before you subscribe. No payment and no server address are needed.
Yes. Sign in to the console at console.housingmarketapi.com and create a sandbox key on your dashboard. It is free, and it needs no payment and no registered server address, so you can call it from your development machine.
A sandbox key sends requests to the same address and in the same x-api-key header as a live key. A sandbox key starts with hmt_ and a live key with hma_, so going live means choosing a plan and swapping the key. Your code stays the same.
What the sandbox data is
- The data is synthetic: the listings are generated, never real ones.
- Every sandbox record has is_demo set to true. Live records carry the same field set to false, so your code can always tell them apart.
- The sandbox is for development and testing only. It says nothing about the listings, prices or activity of a real market.
Limits and expiry
The sandbox has its own limits and a sandbox key works for a limited time. The console shows the limits and the date your key expires, and you can renew it once. When a limit is reached the sandbox answers with rate_limited or quota_exceeded, as the live API does.
