What does “confirmed by two independent sources” mean?

A figure is published only when at least two independent sources agree on it. The figure you see is one source’s own figure, never an average.

Before a figure is shown, Insights compares it with the same figure from other sources. It is published only when at least two independent sources agree on it, within a tolerance set for each metric.

Two websites that republish the same organisation’s figure count as one source, not two, because they are not independent.

The figure you see is the one published by the most trusted source whose terms allow it to be shown, exactly as that source published it. Figures are never averaged, because an average would be a number nobody published.

If the sources disagree, nothing is published for that figure until the disagreement is resolved.
