What happens after I send an enquiry about a property?

Your message is emailed straight to whoever advertised the property, and it is filed in their Enquiries. You are emailed a confirmation of it at the same time.

The contact form on a property page sends your message to the agent or home owner who advertised that property. They are emailed immediately, with your name, your message and the contact details you supplied, and a link that opens the enquiry in their own dashboard under Enquiries.

From that point the conversation is between you and them. They can call you or email you directly, or answer with Reply on your enquiry in their dashboard. A reply sent that way is emailed to the address you gave on the form, with their name and email address, so check the address you entered.

If you were signed in when you sent the enquiry, the replies are also kept with it under Enquiries in your own dashboard, and Reply there sends your answer back to them. To answer a reply that reached you by email, use Reply on the enquiry in your dashboard or write to the email address the reply gives.

The confirmation we send you

You are emailed a confirmation at the same time, to the address you gave on the form. It names the agent or home owner your enquiry reached, links the property it was about, and quotes your message back to you, so you have a record of what you sent and to whom. It comes from the portal you used and asks nothing of you.

If that confirmation does not arrive, your enquiry still reached the advertiser. The two are sent separately and the enquiry is recorded before either of them, so a confirmation that fails to send costs you nothing but the copy. Signing in before you send an enquiry also files it under Enquiries in your own dashboard, where you can read it back at any time.

Why an account may be created for you

If you send an enquiry while signed out and the email address you use has never been seen on the portal before, an account is created for that address. The consent line beneath the contact form is where you agree to it. The account is created so that the enquiry has an owner and so that your next enquiry joins the same history rather than starting again.

You are not asked to choose a password when this happens. To use the account, go to Sign In, choose Forgot Password, and set one against the same email address.
